Education: Building schools and universities that are fit for the future

Education clients at all levels are facing the challenge of developing estates that are fit for purpose today, and can also meet evolving educational needs – in an era of constrained spending. In the schools sector, an extra 880,000 places will be needed in England over the next decade, according to population projections, while there is a maintenance backlog of £7bn.

Meanwhile, universities are having to consider how they remain globally competitive after Brexit – leading to a renewed focus on research facilities in particular. How can the industry best work with the sector to address these challenges, and is funding being targeted in the right way?

Jonathan Stewart, Main Board Director at Gleeds, joins the panel at Building Live to discuss these challenges and ultimately determine how to build schools and universities fit for the future.
