Logistics building in Bedburg

Part of a former lignite opencast mining area is the site for a logistics building with a gross floor area of approx. 65,000sqm. to be built in three construction phases. The T-shaped building is designed as a single-storey front-load logistics complex. Three of the warehouse spaces also have mezzanine floors.

The building is divided into seven 7,000-10,000 m2 storage sections. In addition to the logistics warehouses, the complex will also include two independent office buildings with a combined floor space of 1,700 m². The complex will be built with a parapet height of 13.90 m, resulting in a floor-to-ceiling height of 12.20 m. The whole building will be gold-certified by the DGNB German Sustainable Building Council.

Since there was a logistics building already in operation on the site, demolition and construction works had to be carried out in three construction phases. Where parts of the existing building were not affected by construction works it was possible to keep operations going, thereby allowing both owner and tenants to make a mostly smooth transition from the old to the new building with no downtime incurred.
